Meet the Artists for our Living Lineage of Linen Exhibit - December 12, 2026
Meet the Artists
We’re excited to introduce the artists selected for Living Lineage: Linen in Scandinavian Folk Art and Modern Innovation, a collaborative exhibition presented by Three Rivers Fibershed and the Weavers Guild of Minnesota opening December 12 at Open Book in Minneapolis. Learn more about the exhibit here.
The exhibition is centering linen, ancestral textile culture, and how material heritage plays a significant part in art, craft, and local fiber industry. Artist pieces will be rooted in Scandinavian folk traditions while looking toward the future, Living Lineage brings together artists from across the Upper Midwest working with flax and linen through weaving, sculpture, textile design, and interdisciplinary fiber practices.
Joy Ty Byrum
Joy works with raw natural fibers whenever she can, transforming them into yarn, then cloth by hand. Her practice lives between traditional hand weaving and modern textile design, pairing heritage techniques with a contemporary eye.

Egle Vanagaite
Immersed in the rhythm of the loom, it’s quiet repetitive motions and meditative process. Egle sees weaving traditions and handwoven cloth as a form of storytelling. Each handwoven piece is embedded with memories and techniques passed down from one generation to the next.
