Living Lineage: Linen Symposium

Three Rivers Fibershed and The Weavers Guild of Minnesota are collaborating on a one-day symposium centering linen, ancestral textile culture, and how material heritage plays a significant part in art, craft, and local fiber industry. 


Programming will include workshops at WGM, demonstrations and opportunities to connect with linen focused organizations such as North American Linen Association (NALA) and Midwest Linen Revival (Madison, WI), discussion panels, and artist talk.  The day will culminate in the exhibition grand opening and reception for Living Lineage: Linen in Scandinavian Folk Art and Modern Innovation, a partner project between TRF and WGM generously funded by the American Scandinavian Foundation. 


Panel topics include: 


  • History in the Making: Finding Ancestral Connection through Textiles 

  • Materials Matter: Why Linen Now

  • Artist Talk: Living Lineage Grant Recipients Discuss Process, Material, & Heritage Connection


The event will be held at Open Book in Minneapolis on December 12th, 2026 with programming starting at 10 AM. The gallery opening reception will begin at 5 PM on the second floor next to Loft Literary Center.
